Off the tourist path, Queenstown's best-kept secret has to be Studio 42.
Whether you are looking to taking a beginner course, Day workshop, Specialty Class or join as a jewellery school member to continue learning at your own pace, Studio 42 is a perfect place for you.
Located 6km out of Queenstown the studio is a home away from home tucked in the trees looking out to the mountains by the Shotover River.
In response to many art and jewellery schools closing all over New Zealand. Jess feels excited to keep contemporary craft-based learning alive.
We are all about sustainable jewellery practice ethically sourcing our materials using recycled silver and New Zealand gold.
Originally started in 2015 as a Pop - up at Sherwood a sustainable hotel, restaurant and community workshop space but as the winter months got too cold in the Sherwood workshop space Jess decided it was time to renovate her own studio to accommodate guests and the Airbnb experience The Contemporary Jeweller started leading onto formalising Studio 42 jewellery school.
Jess has been teaching people from all over the world for the past 6 years and now that it is a new local traveller coming to town this little jewellery school has expanded to accommodate a larger variety of courses.
Jewellery school still uses the Sherwood Workshop space for larger pop-up workshops and can also come to you in a different town for a special occasion.
